About

Notes from someone who ships.

I am Karani Geoffrey - a software engineer in Nairobi who takes systems from an empty repository to the thing a business runs on. ERP built on ERPNext and Frappe. AI that earns its keep. Web and mobile products in whichever stack the problem actually calls for. And the analytics dashboards leaders steer by - the ones where the numbers hold up. Through Upeosoft that work has shipped to clients across six continents, driven by one conviction: Africa should be building the technology it runs on, not merely consuming it.

Code With Karani is a working engineer's notebook. It began as a place to write down the fixes that took hours to find - the ERPNext deploy that wouldn't build, the MariaDB upgrade that broke replication, the Frappe patch that needed one obscure flag - so that the next person (often future me) wouldn't have to start from zero.

Everything here is field-tested. If a command is in a guide, it's because it ran on a real server and solved a real problem. No copy-pasted theory, no AI slop - just the steps that actually work, plus the errors you're most likely to hit along the way.

Lately a growing part of that work is AI - not the breathless hype, but the practical, sometimes uncomfortable reality of it: what it can genuinely do for a business, where it quietly fails, and what it all means for Africa. My aim is to be the clearest, most grounded voice on AI on the continent - helping developers and businesses adopt it deliberately instead of being rushed or dazzled.
